Birendranagar, Surkhet| On 12th and 13th March 2026, the Cultivating Change in a Warming World project , implemented by LI-BIRD and OXFAM in Nepal, successfully conducted a Training on Land Rights. The training was supported and facilitated by the Community Self-Reliance Center (CSRC) and OXFAM Novib.
20 participants from OXFAM in Nepal, LI-BIRD, CSRC, Sundar Nepal Sanstha, and WAM Nepal participated in the training. With the aim of piloting land rights and related issues through the FFS approach at the community level, the training focused on:
- Orienting participants on the Facilitator’s guide on land rights for Farmers Field School, jointly developed by Oxfam Novib and CSRC.
- Explore ways to simplify the tools used in the manual.
- Understand the guidelines and linking agriculture, water, and forests with land to validate the works that are being implemented at the community level.
- Prepare community-level land rights field guide implementation plans.
The manual includes five learning sessions covering issues and power relations in land rights, land tenure systems, women’s land rights, agroecology and land, and conflicts around land rights. As this concept of FFS on Land rights remains new to LIBIRD and NEPAL, LI-BIRD, under Cultivating Change and other projects, and CSRC will be piloting the field guide through FFS at their respective project areas to test and evaluate the approach and expand learning for future implementation.
