Description
The study was conducted to assess the agroecological performance of farmers in Surkhet and Dailekh district. Birendranagar municipality and Barahatal rural municipality from Surkhet and Dullu municipality and Aathbis rural municipality from Dailekh were selected for the purpose. The objectives of the study were to analyze the context and to enable the environment for the transition to agroecology as well as to examine the current agroecological status, gaps, strength and weaknesses of farms. During the study, secondary data were reviewed through desk study whereas primary data were collected through focused group discussion and household survey. Household survey was conducted with 120 respondents using the Tool for Agroecology Performance Evaluation (TAPE) in its digital version on the KoBoToolbox app for generating quantitative data on agroecological transition and performance in target territories. By following the TAPE methodology, 10 Elements of Agroecology and 10 core criteria of performance organized in 5 dimensions of sustainability were assessed and analyzed.
