Building a Shared Vision for Resilient Food Systems in Jumla

A one-day workshop on the Agroecological Food System Assessment (AFSA) Findings Sharing and Visioning Workshop was conducted on 10 July 2026 led by the Agriculture Development Office, Jumla at Stay Hotel Valley View, Jumla, under The Green Evolution: Pathways for Food System Transformation project, implemented by Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD), in collaboration with Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources (ANSAB) and HPC with financial support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The workshop engaged representatives from local governments, line agencies, forest offices, development partners, civil society organizations, cooperative sector, media, and other key stakeholders to share and validate the findings of the AFSA conducted in the Tatopani and Chandannath landscapes. The programme featured two key presentations on the Food System Framework and the Green Evolution Project by Ms. Sharmila Pun (WHH), followed by the presentation of the AFSA methodology, key findings, and recommendations by Ms. Rita Gurung (LI-BIRD).

Participants also engaged in interactive group discussions to envision a future community placing the food system at the center by identifying key characteristics of resilient communities, improved food and nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and healthy natural environments, and jointly developed vision statements to guide future actions. The workshop concluded successfully with valuable feedback, strengthened stakeholder collaboration, and a shared commitment to advancing agroecological approaches for sustainable and resilient local food systems.
