Purpose of the LI-BIRD symposium is to provide a supportive forum for sharing, learning, and documenting the diversity of research in LI-BIRD’s programs. The symposium is an in-house mechanism that contributes to the research, knowledge management, and capacity building impact pathway of LI-BIRD’s strategic plan 2030 by facilitating cross-fertilization of knowledge to strengthen organizational learning and long-term knowledge documentation. The first LI-BIRD symposium was organized on 18–19 July 2024 in Pokhara. In total 15 papers were presented. Nine ex-staff of LI-BIRD contributed to peer reviewing of all the papers submitted. Six of 15 papers have adequately addressed peer review feedback and are included in the proceedings.
