Description
Apis cerana is one out of four wild honey bees of Nepal, and is the only one that can nest in man-made containers. Introduction of the European honey bee, Apis mellifera, to Nepal reduced the population of A. cerana and different conservation actions are now taken in order to increase the population.
This publication gives information about the opportunities and threats of A.cerana beekeeping and aims to increase awareness of conservation of the Asian honey bee A. cerana, in Nepal.
