Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur.  LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

‘Strengthening Capacity of Smallholder Farmers for Resilient Livelihood (SAKSHAM)’, project is being implemented by LI-BIRD in Kanchanpur and Doti districts with funding support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through FELM Nepal. The project aims to improve and diversify the food and nutrition security by creating income opportunities in target communities while improving climate change adaptation and disaster risk management capacities of local governments, institutions and communities in these districts.

‘Green Karnali: Climate and Gender Responsive Resilient Agriculture and Enterprises in Karnali River Basin’ is being implemented by LI-BIRD with funding support of DANIDA through DanChurchAid (DCA) Nepal in Surkhet, Dailekh and Accham districts. The project aims to build resilient livelihoods of smallholder farmers, especially women and youths, through the promotion of climate and gender-friendly agroecology based farming approaches and green enterprises.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Programme Operations Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Manager will be responsible for the overall M&E functions of the organization. MEAL Manager’s key duties include: development and implementation of the overall MEAL framework of the organization aligning with strategic programme; support project teams to development and execution of project specific MEAL framework and plan; coordinate baseline, mid-term and endline surveys; organize periodic review and reflection meetings; management of project M&E database; capacity building of project staff on M&E and support the project team in documenting results and learnings and their effective dissemination.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from the recognized university in the fields of Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Information Management or other relevant subjects with five years of work experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), data and knowledge management.
