Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur.  LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

‘Green Karnali: Climate and Gender Responsive Resilient Agriculture and Enterprises in Karnali River Basin’ is being implemented by LI-BIRD with funding support of DANIDA through DanChurchAid (DCA) Nepal in Surkhet, Dailekh and Accham districts. The project aims to build resilient livelihoods of smallholder farmers, especially women and youths, through the promotion of climate and gender-friendly agroecology based farming approaches and green enterprises.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, Advocacy and Documentation Officer (ADO) will be responsible for the coordination with Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s), local and provincial governments to implement the project activities. ADO’S key duties include: taking lead in capacity building, documentation, advocacy, producing a range of knowledge products and communication materials targeted to diverse audiences, and networking with stakeholders. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the project overall M&E and coordinating for the capacity building activities targeted to CSOs and local and provincial governments. 

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or related field with three years of relevant work experience of implementing climate resilient agriculture and livelihood projects in coordination with local and provincial governments with strong components of capacity building, lobbying and engagement in local level policy making and planning processes.
