Project Title: Land Use Transition and Human Health in the Eastern Himalayas: An Adaptive Ecosystem Approach

Objectives :

  • To review existing framework and literature to understand the land use transition impacts on human health
  • To build the capacity of trans-disciplinary research teams to undertake systematic research
  • To prioritize health and land use transition related issues through participatory assessments by communities and researches
  • To design in partnership with communities a large program of ecosystem approach to human health

Major Achievements :

  • Eco-health framework developed
  • Field assessment  and identified applicable tools for ecosystem approach study
  • Capacity built on ecosystem approach to the professional involved in the study and transdisciplinary team developed
  • Linkages with ICIMOD and IOM
 
Geographical Coverage :  Thumka, Hiklung and Ghyalchowk village of Gorkha district and Kholagaun village of Tanahun district  

Collaborators : ICIMOD, TAAAS, KIB, Chepang community
