Project Title: Landscape level biodiversity conservation in Nepal’s Western Terai Landscape Complex
Goal : To ensure the conservation and sustainable use of globally significant biodiversity in Nepal's western Terai landscape complex. Objective: To establish effective management system and build capacity for conservation and sustainable use of Nepal’s Western Terai Landscape Complex. Major Activities:  Participants at seed production training Establishment of benchmark information (agro-biodiversity uses, landuse practices and socio-economic and cultural setting). Awareness raising on biodiversity conservation and utilization. Formation of VDC level Biodiversity Conservation and Development Committee (BCDC) and strengthening their capacity for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Initiation of community-based biodiversity management activities (CBR, diversity fair, diversity block, community seed bank, PPB and grass roots breeding, diversity exchange, home garden improvement, nurseries, community-based seed production and marketing, value addition and marketing of local food products, PVS, CBM fund management, CPCP, etc). Mapping of globally important agrobiodiversity eg. rice, mango, sarpagandha, bael.
