With the financial support from IT, CBM and R project is going to implement Africa, Central and Latin America and South Asia. Altogether 12 countries, 3 from South Asia (India, Nepal and Bangladesh), 5 from Africa (Benin, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe) and 4 from central and Latin America (Brasil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua) are implementing this project in their own countries. At least 2 farmers organisation, 1 NGO, 1 University, 1 PGR national authority, and relevant donor communities engage in each country to develop SAP by EOP.
LI-BIRD is a consortium leader and act as executive secretariat for the implementation of the project. It has assumed this role coinciding with its role as Executive Secretariat of the Global CBM Platform. Basically, the current CBM for Resilience Project will further enforce the Global Platform and LI-BIRD’s role as the Secretariat. This project builds on partnership with several partners like Wageningen UR/CDI, Bioversity International and USC Canada Asia for capacity building area.
Thus, LI-BIRD as an executive secretariat is going to organize this inception workshop from 25-30 June 2012 in Hotel Temple tree, which is located at Lake Side, Pokhara.
Objective of this workshop:
This inception workshop aims to develop the overall planning of this project at implementation level and also to have a common understanding among partners on the project activities and outcome. Key objectives of this workshop are highlighted in below.
- To share and understand the CBM in global contexts and resilience in CBM contexts
- To develop and finalize the Participatory Learning and Action Research (PLAR) process and modalities in the context of CBM & R project
- To finalize the implementing plan and coordination modality of the project
Participant of the workshop:
Participants from all implementing country (12 countries), and partners from Bioversity International, USC Canada Asia, Wageningen UR/CDI and ITPGRFA from Italy and different national to local level representative from Nepal Government (Secretary from MoAD, RAD, Kaski) are expecting to participate in this workshop.
Overview of the workshop session:
This workshop will start from field visit programme to LI-BIRD resource site (Begnas) in 25 June. Formal session like inauguration, brief details on workshop and introduction among participants will be covered in the first half of the second day, 26 June. Technical session will start from Second half of 26 June and continue till first half of the 29 June 2012. Participants will leave Pokhara on early morning of 30 June 2012.
