Participatory seed exchange for enhancing access to seeds of local varieties [Nepali]

Exchange of seed and planting materials along with associated knowledge is most common practice among farmers in Nepalese agriculture. This system fulfills seed, food and nutritional requirements of the farmers, that secure livelihoods and also support on–farm conservation of the valuable genetic resources and associated knowledge, though there are socio-economic, technical and policy related pressures.
This publication describes the participatory seed exchange method to strengthen the informal seed flow system within and outside community. This publication lays out a simple but systematic seed exchange practice to improve access and conservation of local varieties.
