Scaling Up Climate Smart Agriculture in Nepal (CSA)

The project “Scaling Up Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Nepal”, in Nepali “Jalabayu Maitri Krishi Pariyojana” has been implemented by Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) in collaboration with CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) with financial support from Climate & Development Knowledge Network (CDKN). The project will develop portfolios of targeted climate-smart agricultural technologies and practices for benefitting women and marginalized farmers  of the three agro-ecological zones (terai, mid-hill, and high hill) of Nepal. The project will also develop CSA scaling up pathways and implementation plan of the CSA portfolios to scale up through national agricultural extension system, and contribute to agricultural component of climate compatible development planning of Nepal. Furthermore, this project supports government of Nepal by providing decision making tools for promoting CSA in Nepal. The project will follow the principle of fairness, equity and inclusion and address GESI issues. It will ensure meaningful representations and participations of women, poor and disadvantaged people, their access to livelihood resources, ability to exercise voice and influence agency, throughout the project. The project will engage with and receive inputs from the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD), Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MoSTE), Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD), Department of Agriculture (DoA), Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC), District Development Committees (DDCs), District Agriculture Development Offices (DADOs), and VDC Council.
