‘Market-led Approach to Sustainable Management of Agrobiodiversity for Livelihood Outcomes (LCPV-DI)’ project is supported by Darwin Initiatives under the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - DEFRA, UK, implemented by LI-BIRD in Lake Cluster of Pokhara Valley (LCPV), Kaski from June 2019 to May 2022. The overall goal of the project is to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers through application of ecologically sound and scalable market-based solutions to agricultural and aquatic biodiversity management.

Job Summary: The SPO will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the project. The SPO’s major duties include: managing budget and human resources, monitoring and evaluation, building relationships with staff, partners and stakeholders, ensuring greater synergy and resource leveraging with similar initiatives and preparation of progress reports and knowledge products. 

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences with specialization in Agriculture Economics, Agri-business, Value Chain Development or Natural Resource Management or other relevant subjects with 3 years of work experience in implementation and reporting of projects. 

Competencies and Personal Specification: 

  • Strong conceptual, interpersonal, communication, negotiation and representation skills;
  • Experienced in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting;
  • Working experience in organic/ecological farming, value-chain development, agri-business promotion and marketing, farmers’ field schools, natural resource management and community mobilization and skilled in data management and analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff and partners; 
  • Experienced in the effective management of project finance; 
  • Experienced in maintaining a congenial working relationship with all the associated stakeholders of the project, and 
  • Candidates with valid motorbike/scooter driving license are preferred.
