Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit making, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara. LI-BIRD is implementing a project entitled “Strengthening the Capacity of Government, Local Humanitarian Organizations and the Private Sector on Preparedness for Response” in collaboration with Nepal Preparedness Partnership (NPP) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) with funding support of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). The project aims to enhance the capacity of local governments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and private sector organizations through building partnerships, knowledge sharing, training and networking. Nepal Preparedness Partnership (NPP) has been established as a national chapter of APP.

Job Summary: Reporting to Programme Development Director, the DRR Officer will be primarily responsible to provide overall leadership to ADPC funded project “Strengthening Capacity of Government, Local Humanitarian Organizations and the Private Sector on Preparedness for Response” for planning, implementation, coordintion, monitoring and reporting. DRR Programme Officer’s  duty includes; organizing capacity building trainings and awareness events; building relationships and partnerships with the government agencies, CSOs, media and private sector stakeholders; providing technical assistance to the selected local governments for developing Emergency Preparedness and Response, DRR and CCA plans; and providing strategic support to integrate DRR, Emergency Preparedness and Response in LI-BIRD’s programmes and projects.   

Education and Experience: Master's degree in Disaster Risk Management, Environment Science and Engineering with specialiazation on DRR or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
